Lander, the former New York City comptroller and the Democratic nominee in deep-blue NY-10, posted this at 6:29am ET on Wednesday:
I've been detained by the IDF, along with a group of rabbis & volunteers. We were simply harvesting olives in a grove near Nehalim in the West Bank.

New York Mayor Zohran Mamdani chimed in, writing on X "Harvesting olives is not illegal. The occupation is," adding "[O]ther New Yorkers remain detained, and they must be released immediately ... The same Israeli government detaining them has committed a horrific genocide against Palestinians, killing more than 74,000 people over the last few years alone. "
