Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan held a phone call with Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi after a ballistic missile fired from Iranian territory entered Turkish airspace for the second time in five days.
Fidan told Araghchi that any violation of Turkish airspace was “unacceptable" and made clear Ankara would continue taking all necessary measures to protect its security. He also called on all parties to refrain from actions that could destabilize the region or endanger civilian lives.

Araghchi, in response, denied Iranian responsibility, telling Fidan that the missiles detected heading toward Turkish territory were not launched by Iran and pledging that a thorough investigation into the incident would be conducted.
The call comes two days after Turkey’s Defense Ministry announced it had shot down a ballistic munition over the Eastern Mediterranean. In a written statement, the ministry said the projectile was detected after transiting Iraqi and Syrian airspace and was intercepted by NATO air and missile defense assets deployed in the region before it could reach Turkish territory. Debris recovered in the Dörtyol district of Hatay province was identified as belonging to air defense munitions used in the interception.

The incident marked the second such episode in less than a week, heightening alarm in Ankara over missile activity near its southern border amid the broader conflict in the Middle East.
Turkey, a NATO member, hosts alliance air defense assets in its eastern and southern territories that have been on heightened alert since fighting in the region intensified. The back-to-back incidents have placed Ankara in a delicate position- seeking to safeguard its territory while managing its diplomatic relationships with Tehran at a moment of acute regional volatility.
No casualties have been reported in connection with either missile incident.
