At a Senate campaign rally for Democrat Abdul El-Sayed in Michigan on Saturday, a man shouted a question: “Abdul, will you disavow the Muslim Brotherhood?”
El-Sayed disavowed the movement and, in an exchange that quickly went viral, responded: “What are you implying? Do you assume that I wouldn’t?”
The man, who identified himself as Tommy, said he had not previously heard El-Sayed disavow the Muslim Brotherhood. El-Sayed responded that the question implicitly suggested that, because he is Muslim, he would have “dual loyalties.”
