BRICK THROWN THROUGH CAPITAL ONE WINDOW, BRANCH SMASHED AND SPRAY-PAINTED WITH PRO-PALESTINIAN GRAFFITI IN NYC
October 19, 2026 NEW YORK, NY – A Capital One bank branch on Manhattan's Upper East Side was vandalized Monday morning, with a brick thrown through a window, multiple glass doors and panes smashed, and red graffiti referencing Palestine Action and Israeli defense contractor Elbit Systems sprayed across the entrance.
The incident occurred around 7:40–7:50 a.m. at East 86th Street near Second Avenue. Graffiti included “Pal Action” and what appeared to read “Drop Elbit.”
NYPD is investigating the incident as criminal mischief and a possible bias incident. City Council Speaker Julie Menin condemned the vandalism and called for investigators to determine whether it constitutes an antisemitic hate crime.
Capital One has previously faced “Eject Elbit” protests over its reported involvement in a bank consortium providing credit to Elbit Systems.
