The escalatingconflict involving the US, Israel and Iranhas severely disrupted air travel across West Asia, triggering widespread flight cancellations and leaving thousands of passengers stranded across major regional hubs. With large portions of airspace still closed due to fears of missile and drone attacks, airlines have been forced to suspend or reroute services across several countries in the region. Airports in cities such as Dubai, Kuwait City, Manama and Fujairah have witnessed disruptions as airlines scramble to manage cancellations and reschedule flights.

The sudden suspension of services has left tens of thousands of travellers stranded, prompting many to explore alternative options such as private charter flights. However, limited availability and soaring demand have pushed prices significantly higher, making evacuation difficult for many passengers.

In some cases, reports indicated that fighter jets were seen escorting civilian aircraft in sensitive airspace zones as authorities sought to ensure the safety of passenger flights operating in the region.

Several major Gulf carriers, including Emirates, Etihad Airways, and Qatar Airways, are gradually restoring full flight services. Emirates, one of the leading airlines in the world, has been operating a reduced flight schedule due to airspace closure, however, now after the partial reopening of the regional airspace in the UAE, the airline has returned to full operational capacity, subject to airspace availability and operational requirements.

“Emirates continues to monitor the situation, and we will develop our operational schedule accordingly,” it said in apost on X, adding that customers can check their flight schedule and book flights on the official website. The airline has also shared the options for refund or rebooking.

Etihad Airways on Tuesday announced additional flights from Abu Dhabi in an effort to assist passengers affected by cancellations and disruptions.

Qatar Airways also resumed repatriation flights to and from Hamad International Airport in Doha, even though scheduled flight operations remain temporarily suspended due to the closure of Qatari airspace.

Amid the escalating tensions, the Embassy of India in Qatar has issued an advisory to Indian nationals residing in the country, urging them to remain cautious and avoid unnecessary travel.
