Dorothy F. Dinnigan of Riverhead died March 5, 2026, at home. She was 90 years old.
Born May 13, 1935, in Brooklyn, she was the daughter of Edward and Grace (Smith) Callahan. She graduated from St. Joseph’s High School in Brooklyn in 1953. On Sept. 17, 1955, in Sheepshead Bay, she married Joseph Dinnigan. She was an artist and business owner. Her family said she enjoyed drawing, painting and sculpting.
She was predeceased by her husband, Joseph, in 2012 and her brother, Edward Callahan.
She is survived by her children, Timothy of Medford, Diane of Riverhead, Kathleen of Riverhead, Jack of Pennsylvania, Robert of St. James and Dorothy of St. James; by her sister, Grace Hurley of Port Jefferson; and by 10 grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren.
The family will receive visitors on Tuesday, March 10, from 2 to 5 p.m. at McLaughlin Heppner Funeral Home in Riverhead. A funeral service will be held Wednesday, March 11, at 10 a.m. at the funeral home. Interment will follow at Calverton National Cemetery.
