Pope Leo XIV says the death penalty is wrong. So I opened my Bible. Genesis 9:6 (KJV): "Whoso sheddeth man's blood, by man shall his blood be shed: for in the image of God made he man." I'm a Christian and a 20-year Navy submarine veteran, and I'm not a theologian. I'm just a guy out here changing the oil in my lawnmower with a cup of coffee. But when the Pope weighs in on justice for the 13 people killed and 32 wounded at Fort Hood, I'm going to read what Scripture actually says. We cover Genesis 9:6, Romans 13:4, what it means to put the victims' families first, and why a man living behind 50-foot walls is lecturing everyone else about theirs. Agree or disagree, tell me where you stand in the comments. Respectful debate is always welcome here.
