ERIE, PENNSYLVANIA: Nine people are reported dead following a mass shooting and standoff near East 7th and Perry streets on Friday evening. Reports say children are among the dead. Witnesses described a gunman firing outside before entering a home, where police heard additional shots during their response. Police Chief Rick Lorah said the suspected shooter died and there was no ongoing threat to the public. The motive remains under investigation.
PHILADELPHIA, PENNSYLVANIA: Two Philadelphia police officers were shot near 52nd and Arch streets in West Philadelphia early Saturday while responding to a report of an armed man on a porch. Commissioner Kevin Bethel said one officer was shot 12 times and the other three times. Both required surgery, according to morning reporting. SWAT found the suspect hiding in a tree, and he was taken into custody.
DOUGLAS, GEORGIA: Five people were pronounced dead after a shooting at a home in Coffee County late Friday night. Douglas police responded around 11 p.m. and found five people with gunshot wounds. Local outlet Douglas Now describes an apparent murder-suicide in the Touchton Woods neighborhood. The investigation continues.
