He plans the date. He pays for dinner. Now he’s supposed to pay for your Uber, too? Is this a first date or a princess pickup service?
Today on Men Need To Be Heard, I’m reacting to the claim that men should arrange and pay for a woman’s transportation to a first date—and questioning how “strong and independent” somehow comes with a bill addressed to him.
Wanting to meet someone in public is reasonable. Turning that preference into his financial obligation? Says who?
We’re talking dating expectations, selective traditional values, personal responsibility, and the difference between appreciating a generous gesture and demanding one. Because a man choosing to treat you doesn’t mean you’re entitled to his wallet.
What do you think: would you pay for a date’s Uber—and would being EXPECTED to change your answer? Drop your thoughts below.
Subscribe to Men Need To Be Heard for straight talk about men’s issues and the double standards that deserve to be challenged. Share this with a guy who’s tired of dating feeling like an unpaid job—with expenses.
