Patrick Mahomes Sr. faced a judge in a Texas courtroom Monday afterallegations he violated conditions of his probation.
The father ofKansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomesshowed up to the Smith County proceedings in handcuffs and an orange prison-issue jumpsuit following claims he breacheda deal he made with prosecutors in his 2024 DWI caseby consuming alcohol on New Year’s Day.
Mahomes Sr., who had been behind bars since Feb. 2 over the allegations, was reportedlyfacing a punishment of 10 years in prisonfollowing the alleged violation. However, he received some positive news at Monday’s hearing.
According to CBS 19, the state pulled back its motion to revoke Mahomes Sr.’s probation, and while the former MLB pitcher’s probation was extended from five years to seven, the judge allowed him to be released from custody later Monday.

It was revealed in court that a hair follicle belonging to Mahomes Sr. tested negative for alcohol and the 55-year-old did not admit to consuming booze,KLTV reported.
Mahomes Sr.’s 2024 arrest — whichcame just days before the Chiefs’ Super Bowl win— marked at least the third time he had been accused of DUI. He ultimately pleaded guilty to a felony charge of driving while intoxicated third time or more to close out the case and agreed to a sentence of five years probation.
In a docuseries chronicling the Chiefs’ Super Bowl run to the ’24 Super Bowl, Patrick Mahomes said he believed the arrest “woke” up his dad.
“It was during that Super Bowl,” the Kansas City signal-caller said in an episode. “It became a story, and so, I had to answer questions about it. I think just knowing that it hurt me woke him up to know that like, you can’t keep doing the same things.”
