A jury has heard details of a series of alleged attacks on the Sayers family before an explosive street clash in Byker. Stephen Sayers, his two sons and three other men deny violent disorder after a Ford Ranger allegedly linked to the Freeman organised crime group pulled up outside The Road bar. CCTV shows the pickup mounting the kerb towards people outside before being confronted — with objects thrown as the vehicle reverses away. The jury was told police had been aware since 2022 of a “violent campaign” involving the Sayers family and people allegedly associated with the Freeman group. Jurors heard allegations including homes and businesses being attacked, cars and vans being torched, a tipper truck being driven into a house, a Range Rover being rammed into a property and the grave of the Sayers brothers’ mother being vandalised. The court was also shown footage of several of the alleged attacks. All six defendants deny violent disorder. THE TRIAL CONTINUES.
