In 2014, a courtroom in Roermond, Netherlands, erupted after a grieving father threw a chair toward a judge following the sentencing of the driver responsible for a crash that killed his 2-year-old daughter and her grandparents. The driver initially received 120 hours of community service, with 60 days in custody if he failed to complete it. The sentence prompted the father to cry out and throw a chair before security restrained him. Prosecutors appealed the sentence. A higher court later increased the punishment to 15 months in prison and a four-year driving ban.
