Kai Trump’s latest YouTube vlog caught backlash on March 8 after the influencer joked about "going bankrupt" while loading her cart at the upscaleLos Angelessupermarket, Erewhon.
The 18-year-old granddaughter of PresidentDonald Trumpgave her followers a look into what it's like shopping at the pricey chain as she spent time inCalifornia.
Inside the organic grocery chain, Kai sampled the store’s $22 Hailey Bieber-inspired strawberry smoothie and bought a $128 Erewhon sweatshirt. "I’m like about to go bankrupt with this stuff," she said, laughing at the camera. Moments later, she doubled down, adding, "I’m gonna have to file for bankruptcy." During the outing, Kai spent over $233. Itcomes after Kai 'almost passed out' during an alarming experience.
Fans immediately called her out for being "tone deaf," especially as she labeled the video, "I Brought My Secret Service to Erewhon."
"Title might be the most tone deaf thing I've ever read. Like legit lmao," one person commented on YouTube, while another wrote, "thanks for showing us the grocery store none of us will ever shop at."
Over on X, a different person said, "I have to believe she’s rage baiting," before labeling the segment "disgusting" and "scene-causing." Another commenter added, "She’s been rich all her life. She doesn’t know anything outside of disgusting wealth."
Kai was slammed as "tone deaf" for spending $233 at Erewhon
On the opposite end, some viewers defended Kai, and claimed, "For coming from such a wealthy background, she is very grounded."
Another thanked her for "sharing your shopping experience in Erewhon" and wished her well.
