Star Indian spinner Varun Chakaravarthy once again took a humorous jab atPakistanafterTeam Indiawon the T20World Cup2026 trophy on Sunday in Ahmedabad. The Men in Blue scored a massive 255/5 in 20 overs while batting first, thanks to half-centuries from Ishan Kishan, Abhishek Sharma, and Sanju Samson. In response, New Zealand were bowled out for 159 after collapsing against India's astonishing bowling attack. With this triumph, India became the first side to win the prestigious title three times, in addition to defending their T20 World Cup crown.
Chakaravarthy posted a humorous photo of himself holding the trophy while drinking tea from a cup on Instagram following the victory. The Instagram story instantly went viral all over social media.
For those who do not know, Chakaravarthy shared a similar photo following India's victory against Pakistan in the 2025 Asia Cup. Indian players returned without the trophy after refusing to receive it from PCB Chief and Asia Cup Council Chairman Mohsin Naqvi during that competition.
The following day, Chakaravarthy shared a photo of himself resting on his bed with a tea cup next to him—a funny substitute for the trophy from the Asia Cup. He then disclosed in an interview that his first goal was to snap a festive picture with the trophy on his bed. He chose to use a mug to replicate the moment when the trophy was not available.
"I knew we were going to win. After the second match, I was sure that if we met them in the final, we would win. So I had planned everything-I planned to sleep with the cup next to me and take a photo. But after the match, there was nothing next to me. There was only a coffee cup, so I went ahead with that," he had explained.
Chakaravarthy's 2026 T20 World Cup campaign was uneven. Despite taking 14 wickets to finish as the joint-highest wicket-taker, he also gave up 287 runs in the 31 overs he bowled.
