A few hours after the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) released the Civil Services Examination (CSE) final result 2025 on March 6, several media reports reported that a certain Aakansha Singh from Bhojpur, Bihar had cleared the exam. However, UPSC has disputed such claims and clarified that only one Aakansha Singh has been recommended by the Commission, and she hails from Ghazipur.
Bhojpur's Aakansha Singh's story made headlines as she is the granddaughter of Brahmoshwar Mukhiya, head of Ranveer Sena in Bihar. After the results were announced on March 6, she appeared in several media interviews which got the internet confused.
"The final result of the Civil Services Examination, 2025 has been declared on 06.03.2026. There are various media reports, wherein two candidates of same name i.e. Akanksha Singh, are claiming to have secured the same Rank 301 in the final result of the Civil Services Examination, 2025," UPSC stated in an official PIB release.
"In this regard, it is clarified that as per the records of the Commission, the details of the successful candidate, who has secured Rank 301 in the final result of the Civil Services Examination (Mains), 2025 are as under:
Father’s Name: Sh. Ranjit Singh
Mother’s Name: Smt. Neelam Singh
Address: Village Abhaipur, Ghazipur, Uttar Pradesh
The main confusion was due to the same name, i.e. Aakansha Singh. As per reports, there were two candidates with the same name (Aakansha Singh) in the UPSC Civil Services 2025 exam. While one candidate is from Bhojpur (Bihar) and the granddaughter of Brahmoshwar Mukhiya, the other candidate is a gynaecologist from Ghazipur, UP.
"I am a gynaecologist by profession, currently practising at Patna AIIMS. I have come to know that another girl is claiming the 301st rank. This video is just for clarification. If one scans the QR code on both the admit cards, the matter will be very clear," Singh from Ghazipur told local media.
The doctor candidate was also able to share her admit card and interview documents to back her claim. She also clarified that she appeared for all three stages: prelims, mains, and PT, with the same roll number. "I am confident about that and, at the same time, very humbled that my name has come in the list," she added.
