Indian River, FL - A distracted driver narrowly missed two deputies when they crashed into the back of a patrol car blocking a roadway Monday. Deputies with the Indian River County Sheriff's Office say two deputies were blocking a lane while a disabled vehicle was loaded onto a tow truck around 11:30 p.m. The driver reportedly slammed into the back of a patrol vehicle before continuing into a ditch. Video from the scene shows the vehicle coming within five feet of "seriously injuring or killing our deputy," per IRCSO. The driver, whose identity has not been released at this time, was taken to a trauma center with non-life-threatening injuries. Neither deputy was injured, and no criminal charges are pending at this time.
