The front page of Iran’s state-aligned English daily,Tehran Times, prominently features photographs of children reported to have been killed in a missile strike on an elementary school in the southern Iranian town of Minab. Across the page, a stark headline reads: “Trump, Look Them In The Eyes.” In an accompanying editorial, the newspaper sharply criticised Donald Trump, accusing the US president of spreading misleading claims about the ongoing conflict. The piece argued that his statements regarding military operations in Iran were marked by “false assertions, denial of responsibility for atrocities, and a refusal to pursue diplomatic solutions.”
Trump had earlier suggested that Iran itself may have been responsible for the strike. Speaking to reporters on Saturday, he said the attack could have been caused by Iranian weaponry, claiming the country’s munitions lack precision.

His remarks followed reporting by The New York Times, which cited investigative findings indicating that the United States military was the most likely source of the strike. Neither the United States nor Israel has officially accepted responsibility for the incident. Iranian authorities say at least 150 people were killed, although Agence France-Presse reported it could not independently verify the death toll or details of the attack because journalists have been unable to access the site.
The strike reportedly occurred on February 28 at a military compound in Minab. A school located inside or near the facility was hit, resulting in the deaths of more than 165 people, most of them children, according to Iranian officials.
Analysis by Trevor Ball, a conflict researcher associated with the Dutch investigative group Bellingcat, suggested the attack involved a Tomahawk cruise missile. In a series of posts on X, Ball shared footage originally aired by Mehr News Agency that appears to show a missile striking a building inside the compound, which is linked to the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps.
Ball said the video provided the clearest evidence so far that the United States carried out the strike. He noted that among the parties involved in the conflict, only the US is known to deploy Tomahawk missiles, while Israel is not believed to possess the weapon system.
The footage also included side-by-side imagery comparing the missile seen in the strike with known visuals of Tomahawk missiles. Ball added that the video had been geolocated to confirm the exact location of the impact, contradicting Trump’s suggestion that Israel may have been responsible.
