The wildfire broke out Saturday afternoon, October 3, near Bouquet Canyon Road and Quarry Road in the Angeles National Forest in Los Angeles County. Officials reported structures and power lines threatened, with crews also battling two spot fires near the main blaze. The latest supplied update lists 843 acres and 0% containment.
Evacuation orders and warnings were issued for surrounding areas. Some orders were later downgraded, but evacuation alerts remained in effect. CHP closed Bouquet Canyon Road at Vasquez Canyon Road.
According to NBC4, CAL FIRE said aircraft would be released because of low visibility and return in the morning. The firefight comes during a Southern California heat wave, with a nearby weather station reporting 93 degrees and 21% humidity.
