In 1995, 18-year-old Christa Pike killed her classmate Colleen Slemmer in Knoxville, Tennessee, and kept a piece of her skull. Thirty years later, the state finally carried out her execution, and it failed. Tennessee gave her a lethal injection, then a backup dose, and she survived both. The execution was called off; she was rushed to a hospital, and the governor called it "deeply disturbing" and put all executions on hold. She would have been the first woman executed in Tennessee in over 200 years. Should the state try again, or is it time to bring back the electric chair?
