Suspect, 40, accused of assaulting woman in stairwell in Sham Shui Po before getting into an altercation with her husband

A man has been arrested in Hong Kong for allegedly indecently assaulting a woman in a stairwell before fighting with her husband.

Police said the incident occurred at about 12.54am on Monday in a stairwell outside a building on Apliu Street in Sham Shui Po.

A 30-year-old woman surnamed Lai reported that she was indecently assaulted by a man. Her 34-year-old husband subsequently became involved in a dispute with the suspect.

During the altercation, the husband was allegedly attacked by the man, according to police.

Officers who responded to the report conducted a preliminary investigation and arrested a 40-year-old man on suspicion of indecent assault and assault causing actual bodily harm.

The suspect has been detained for further investigation.
