A teenage boy has been charged and another is still on the run after a crash involving a stolen vehicle in Ashtonfield. Police were called to a home on South Seas Drive at around 5:30am Tuesday 29 September to reports an allegedly stolen Mercedes sedan had crashed into a parked car after becoming airborne. A shocking video shows the car clip a brick mail box and flip across the front lawn of the home and land directly onto their ute. A 14-year-old boy was arrested at the scene and taken to the John Hunter Hospital under police guard. During a search of the sedan, officers located and seized a mobile phone and balaclava. The vehicle as towed for forensic examination. The teenager was later charged with aggravated break and enter and commit serious indictable offence and be carried in conveyance taken without consent of owner. He was granted strict conditional bail to appear before a children's court on Monday 19 October 2026. The search for a second boy who fled the scene is ongoing.
