The mask is officially off. Senate Majority Leader John Thune and his establishment cronies are proving once again that they'd rather protect their swamp buddies than fight for the American people who put them in power.
While these so-called Republicans can't seem to muster the energy to pass the SAVE Act—legislation that would require proof of citizenship to vote in federal elections—they're moving heaven and earth to protect Senator John Cornyn's worthless hide and maintain their stranglehold on power.
It's absolutely infuriating, patriots. Here we have President Trump with a clear mandate from the American people, pushing real conservative priorities, and what does the GOP establishment do? They circle the wagons around the same tired faces who've been selling us out for decades.
The SAVE Act should be a no-brainer. Every American citizen understands that you need an ID to buy groceries, rent a car, or board a plane—but somehow requiring proof of citizenship to vote is too much to ask? This is basic election integrity, folks.
But instead of fighting tooth and nail for this common-sense legislation, Thune and his establishment allies are busy playing internal politics and protecting senators like Cornyn who represent everything wrong with the Republican Party's past failures.
This is exactly why Trump won—because Americans are sick and tired of Republicans who talk tough during campaign season but fold like cheap suits when it's time to actually govern.
President Trump didn't win a historic mandate so that Senate Republicans could continue business as usual. He won because patriots demanded real change, real action, and real results.
The question every conservative should be asking is simple: If these establishment Republicans won't fight for basic election integrity, what exactly will they fight for? Their own power and cushy committee assignments?
Americans deserve better than senators who are more concerned with protecting their swamp friends than securing our elections. It's time for Thune and company to get with the Trump agenda or get out of the way.
