BREAKING LIVE! CHRISTA PIKE EXECUTION. Riverbend Maximum Security Institution in Nashville, Tennessee. Christa Pike is scheduled to be executed today, September 30, 2026, by lethal injection at 10am. If carried out, the 50-year-old will become the first woman executed in Tennessee in more than 200 years. She would also be the only person in the modern era of the state's capital punishment system to be executed for a crime committed as an 18-year-old. Her execution follows a final, 11th-hour denial of a stay by the U.S. Supreme Court on Tuesday night, as well as a clemency rejection by Tennessee Governor Bill Lee earlier in the week. In January 1995, then-18-year-old Christa Pike, her 17-year-old boyfriend Tadaryl Shipp, and 18-year-old Shadolla Peterson lured their 19-year-old classmate, Colleen Slemmer, into a secluded wooded area of the University of Tennessee agricultural campus. Driven by jealousy over a perceived romantic rivalry, Pike and Shipp tortured Slemmer for over 30 minutes. During the attack, they carved a pentagram into Slemmer's chest. Pike ultimately killed Slemmer by crushing her skull with an asphalt chunk, keeping a piece of the skull as a souvenir. Pike was convicted of first-degree murder and conspiracy to commit murder, receiving a death sentence in 1996 at age 20. Because of their ages and roles, her co-defendants received drastically different sentences: • Tadaryl Shipp (Age 17): Ineligible for the death penalty due to being a minor. He received a life sentence and is currently eligible for parole. • Shadolla Peterson (Age 18): Acted as a lookout and cooperated with prosecutors. She received six years of probation for being an accessory after the fact. Police press conference. Protests & demonstrations planned. Also mass shooting & Nancy Guthrie talk.
