Fox & Friendshas been forced into a humiliating climbdown after its coverage of the dignified transfer of six U.S. service members killed in Kuwait. Instead of accurately documenting a solemn moment of national mourning, the network aired old footage that appeared to obscure U.S. President Donald Trump's controversial behaviour during the ceremony.
On 8 March,Fox Newsshared what should have been footage of Trump attending the dignified transfer of the six U.S. service men who were killed in action in Kuwait. But instead of showing the actual video from the recent event, the network aired footage from a previous dignified transfer that was held on 17 December 2025. The ceremony from last year was for two U.S. National Guard members and a U.S. civilian who were killed in Syria and was also attended by Trump.
It did not take long for netizens to react and begin calling Fox out for the swap. The X account Bad Fox Graphics quickly pointed out the error, claiming that the network had used old footage 'all because [Trump] wore abaseball capyesterday'.
It is an unusual point, but one that also shines a glaring light on how the American leader has failed to properly pay tribute to the fallen soldiers.
It might seem like a simple fashion faux pas, but the significance goes a lot deeper. During the ceremony on Sunday, Donald Trump wore a blue suit and a bright red tie along with a white 'USA' baseball cap which he did not remove to honour the fallen men.
It is believed that Fox News decided to use older footage to downplay the fact that the U.S. president broke etiquette. The December 2025 video shows Trump without a hat, clearly paying his respects.
Fox was quick to address the error. Fox & Friends Weekend co-host Griff Jenkins issueda statementabout the incident and later took the time to name the fallen men.
'We want to acknowledge a mistake made earlier on our program,' Jenkins said. 'During our coverage of yesterday's dignified transfer, we inadvertently aired video from an older dignified transfer instead of the ceremony that took place yesterday.'
'We deeply regret the error, and extend our respect and condolences to the service members' families. We honour the sacrifice of those six American heroes,' he continued.
A solemn ceremony at Dover Air Force Base marked the return of six U.S. service members who were killed in Kuwait during the conflict involving the U.S., Israel, and Iran. The dignified transfer was attended by Trump and First Lady Melania Trump, along with U.S. Vice President JD Vance and Usha Vance, who paid their respects to the fallen soldiers.
