We hear constantly that women should be free to make their own choices, live the life they want, and define happiness for themselves. But apparently that freedom comes with terms and conditions. Because when a woman openly says she loves her husband, enjoys being married, values her family, or simply admits that she's happy with the life she's chosen, watch what happens. Suddenly she's a “pick-me.” She's “male-centered.” She's “brainwashed.” She's accused of having “internalized misogyny” or even betraying other women. And I see it firsthand every week when women come into the comments and attack Lindsay simply because she refuses to apologize for loving her husband and being happy in her marriage. So what exactly is going on here? In this video, we're talking about something that rarely gets acknowledged in these conversations: female jealousy, envy and resentment. Because sometimes the hostility isn't coming from oppression. Sometimes another person's happiness simply reminds someone of what they don't have. And if we actually believe women should be free to choose their own lives, then that freedom has to include choices other women don't personally approve of.
