Ahmedabad:As Indian team cricket batsmen were busy sending cricket balls into the stands during theT20 World Cup 2026 final against New Zealandin Ahmedabad on Sunday, Delhi Police issued a quirky warning to Ahmedabad Police, that they may soon receive "missing ball complaints" from the Kiwis. Ahmedabad Police, in turn, took the matter very "seriously."

In a quirky post on social media during India's innings, Delhi Police tagged Ahmedabad Police with a lighthearted warning, "You may get ball disappearance complaints from Kiwis. No need to take it seriously, it's our batsmen sending them to the stands."

Ahmedabad Police's deadpan response was equally brilliant: "Thank you for bringing this to our attention. The matter has been reported to the Higher Police officials."

The exchange quickly went viral, and with good reason. India were putting on a batting masterclass at the time.

Soon after Delhi, and Ahmedabad Police, UP also entered in the picture with a special status update.

In an X post, UP Police wrote, "CASE STATUS UPDATE 🚔 Earlier complaint: Ball going missing.

New complaint: Entire batting lineup going missing. Our assessment: This is not a law & order problem.

This comes as Team India defeated New Zealand to win the T20 World Cup 2026. India were favourites heading into the tournament and they played like defending champions. The team was asked to bat first, and they made New Zealand pay for the decision as they ended up with a mammoth score of 255-5.

Sanju Samson and Abhishek Sharma destroyed the Kiwi attack and added a 98-run opening partnership. Abhishek was out for 51, but Ishan Kishan took over from him and made 54. Sanju Samson was on song at the other end and played a magnificent knock of 89. In the final overs, Shivam Dube scored 28 in eight balls to take India to a massive score.

New Zealand were off to a flier in the chase, but Axar Patel and Jasprit Bumrah picked early wickets as New Zealand lost three wickets in the powerplay. They needed a massive performance from the top order to get close to the target, but they did not get one, and India picked up a comprehensive win after bowling New Zealand out for 159. Bumrah was the star with the ball and picked three wickets for four wickets for 15 runs
