The Indian team defeated New Zealand to win their historic third T20 World Cup title. They shattered many records during this massive triumph. From an absolutely dominant batting display to clinical bowling, the Men in Blue stole the show completely at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. Here are some big records they broke during the IND vs NZ Final.
Abhishek Sharma smashed a fifty off just 18 balls to register the fastest fifty by a batter in a T20 World Cup final. He broke the record held by Heinrich Klaasen (23 balls vs India in 2024). He roared back in form and set the base for India to post a massive title.
Sanju Samson broke the record held by Marlon Samuels (2016) and Kane Williamson (2021) for the highest score in a T20 World Cup final. They had smashed 85 runs and Samson surpassed them by hitting 89 against New Zealand. This was also his third consecutive fifty in the tournament.
Sanju Samson has the most sixes (21) by a batter in a single T20 World Cup edition. He went past Finn Allen's 20. Samson has played crucial knocks and has led the Indian team from front in the virtual knockout against West Indies, semi-final against England and now in the final against New Zealand
This is the first time in T20 World Cup history that each of the top three batters in a team crossed the fifty-run mark in a single innings. The India's top three of Abhishek Sharma, Sanju Samson and Ishan Kishan ensured that the Men in Blue will be posting a massive score.
Samson and Kishan's 105-run partnership was the second in a T20 World Cup final, only behind the 111-run stand between Craig Kieswetter and Kevin Pietersen's 111 against Australia in the 2010 edition.
The Indian team posted the highest score in the history of a T20 World Cup final. They broke their own record of 177 runs which they posted against South Africa in the 2024 edition.
The Indian team became the first team to win the T20 World Cup three times. They also became the first team to win the trophy at home and as a defending champions. No other team has won the tournament in back-to-back editions. They are now the team with the most T20 World Cup titles.
