Amid rising tensions in theMiddle East, authorities in theUnited Arab Emirates(UAE) have urged residents not to stockpile essential goods, assuring that supplies remain stable across markets. The advisory comes as the UAE said it intercepted multiple missiles and drones launched from Iran. Speaking on the issue, Abdulla Bin Touq Al Marri, Minister of Economy and Tourism, said markets are well-stocked and capable of meeting daily consumer demand.

“Goods from around the world are available in large quantities to meet everyday consumer needs. We urge the public not to stockpile and confirm products are accessible in all markets at fair prices," Abdulla Bin Touq Al Marri, Minister of Economy and Tourism, said in a statement.

The reassurance comes as regional tensions continue to escalate. The UAE said on Sunday it intercepted 16 ballistic missiles and 113 unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) launched from Iran, while also carrying out its first retaliatory strike amid the ongoing conflict. Officials emphasised that supply chains remain stable and that authorities are closely monitoring markets to prevent shortages or price manipulation as the situation in the region evolves.

There have been a number of strikes near the Dubai International Airport as well amid widespread tensions in the Middle East, prompting flight suspensions and widespread disruption for travellers. On Saturday, a video verified by the BBC appeared to show a drone strike and an explosion near the airport's terminal area.

The exact location of the impact could not be independently confirmed, though the video appears to show an explosion near Concourse A at the airport. Operations were halted for a brief time and later resumed partially.

The United Arab Emirates (UAE) on Sunday also refuted reports of an attack on Iran's desalination plant, emphasising that it will not treat the Iranian people the way the Iranian regime has acted over the past week. In a post on X, Ali Rashid Al Nuaimi, member of the UAE Federal National Council and Chairman of the Defense Affairs, Interior & Foreign Affairs Committee, slammed the reports as "fake news", stating that the country has the "courage" to announce such actions if it had carried them out.

"This is fake news. When we do something, we've the courage to announce it," Al Nuaimi said.

"The UAE will never place the Iranian people in the same basket as the Iranian regime. The Iranian people are the real victims of that regime and the ones who suffer the most from its policies. As neighbours, we recognize this reality and we care about their wellbeing," he further clarified in another post on X.

Tensions remain high in West Asia, following the death of the 86-year-old Supreme Leader of Iran, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, who was killed in joint military strikes by the US and Israel on February 28.
