An Immigration and Customs Enforcement agent reportedly shot and wounded a man in North Austin on Sunday afternoon, September 20. According to reporting attributed to Austin American-Statesman reporter Tony Plohetski, state and local officials confirmed the agent’s involvement.
Austin city communications said the wounded person was alert and talking when transported by Austin-Travis County EMS. Officials said Austin police were not involved in the encounter itself. APD assisted with traffic control, including closures along the southbound frontage road.
The reported location is near West Anderson Lane, Research Boulevard and Anderson Square. What led to the shooting remains unclear in the initial reporting, and the person’s identity and immigration status have not been established.
