Iran has said its missiles struck Israel’s largest oil refinery in Haifa, a facility linked to India and Israel, in an attack that could trigger major economic and defence losses for Israel.

Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) said it targeted the Bazan Group oil refinery in Haifa Bay on Saturday using Kheibar Shekan solid-fuel ballistic missiles.

According to the IRGC, the strike was carried out in retaliation for recent US-Israeli attacks on Iran’s energy sector.

Iran said those attacks included strikes on oil depots around Tehran.

Iranian officials said the missile attack on the refinery was intended as a response to Israeli strikes on Iranian oil storage infrastructure.

The refinery, operated by the Bazan Group inHaifaBay, is Israel’s largest oil processing facility. Reports say it supplies around 50 to 60 percent of Israel’s domestic fuel. The site was also hit during an Iranian missile barrage in June 2025. That attack killed three workers, injured dozens and forced the refinery to shut down for several months.
