Rosamond, CA - A 22-year-old man, KCSO says was armed with a sword, was shot by a deputy in Rosamond during a peace disturbance call. He was later arrested on attempted murder of a peace officer and other charges. The Kern County Sheriff's Office said on August 3, 2026, at around 5:30 p.m., deputies assigned to the Rosamond substation responded to the Desert Oasis Mobile Estates in 3300 block of 15th Street West in Rosamond for a peace disturbance. KCSO said shortly after the responding deputy got there, they were confronted by the suspect, identified as 22-year-old Joshua Dribin, who was armed with a sword. KCSO said a deputy-involved shooting happened. Dribin was arrested and treated for his wounds by deputies on scene and taken by ambulance to the hospital for treatment of his non-life-threatening injuries. Dribin was arrested for obstructing and resisting, exhibiting a deadly weapon to resist arrest, and attempted murder on a peace officer.
