Nyamjargal Tumendemberel improved to 10-1 in his MMA career, with a hard-fought victory over Cody Durden atUFC 326on Saturday.

After seeing Tumendemberel fish for an earlyguillotinechoke, the opening round was primarily a grappling battle with Durden trying to lean on his wrestling skills. However, it was Tumendemberel who controlled much of the round, reversing position and slamming his opponent to the mat with a well-timed takedown.

Durden went back to the well in round two, shooting for a takedown and looking to lock in aheel hook. But just as he did in the first, Tumendemberel scrambled his way out of the maneuver, taking Durden’s back in the process.

Durden and Tumendemberel would trade top position through the remainder of the round, with the latter finishing the stanza in side control.

Tumendemberel took control of the third early, but it was Durden who would put his stamp on the round, taking his opponent’s back and looking for a Hail Mary submission.

Unfortunately, the moment would never come for Durden as Tumendemberel shot Durden off his back and rode out the final few seconds of the fight before seeing his hand raised.
