Raul Lemberanskij kept his ‘O’ intact atOktagon 85in Germany, scoring a big win over Ali Gündüz as part of the evening’s main card.

Gündüz came out striking and largely dominated the opening round, but ‘The Gorilla’ largely abandoned his stand-up game in the second, instead opting to shoot takedown after takedown. The unusual change in game plan prompted the commentary team to speculate that Gündüz may have injured himself during the first.

The lack of offense from Gündüz in the second — aside from a slew of failed takedown attempts — ultimately earned Lemberanskij the round, tying things up on two of the three scorecards.

Lemberanskij mounted a full onslaught in the third, taking Gündüz’s back and unleashing a flurry of strikes near the fence. Unfortunately, it wasn’t enough to get the finish, but it did secure him a hard-fought victory.

Official Result: Raul Lemberanskij def. Ali Gündüz via split decision (28-29, 29-28, 29-28).

With the win, Lemberanskijkept his undefeated record intact, moving to 9-0, while Gündüz suffered his first career defeat, falling to 6-1.
