President Donald Trump demonstrated once again what true leadership looks like on Saturday, traveling to Dover Air Force Base to personally honor six American heroes whose flag-draped caskets returned home to the nation they died serving.
The Commander-in-Chief, accompanied by First Lady Melania Trump, Vice President JD Vance, and Second Lady Usha Vance, stood solemnly on the tarmac as the remains of Major Jeffrey O'Brien, Captain Cody Khork, Chief Warrant Officer 3 Robert Marzan, Sergeant First Class Nicole Amor, Sergeant First Class Noah Tietjens, and Sergeant Declan Coady were carried from the aircraft in the sacred ceremony known as a Dignified Transfer.
Unlike the previous administration—which infamously checked watches during a similar ceremony for the thirteen service members killed during the catastrophic Afghanistan withdrawal—President Trump and his team showed the reverence and respect these Gold Star families deserve.
The attendance list read like a who's who of the Trump administration's national security leadership: Secretary of War Pete Hegseth, Attorney General Pam Bondi, Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard, Chairman of the Joint Chiefs General Dan Caine, and Chief of Staff Susie Wiles all made the journey to Delaware to stand with their President and, more importantly, with the grieving families.
In a rare show of unity, elected officials from both parties attended the ceremony, including Delaware's Democrat Senator Lisa Blunt Rochester alongside Republican Senators Joni Ernst, Deb Fischer, and Pete Ricketts. Governors Ron DeSantis of Florida, Jim Pillen of Nebraska, and Kim Reynolds of Iowa also paid their respects.
This is what America First looks like, folks. A President who doesn't hide in the White House when duty calls. A Commander-in-Chief who looks Gold Star families in the eye and thanks them for the immeasurable sacrifice their loved ones made for this nation.
While the White House has not yet released details about the circumstances of these heroes' deaths, one thing is abundantly clear: under President Trump's leadership, America's fallen warriors are treated with the dignity and honor they earned with their lives.
These six patriots—an Army Major, a Captain, a Chief Warrant Officer, and three Sergeants—represent the very best of America. They volunteered to serve. They swore an oath to defend the Constitution. And they paid the ultimate price.
To the families of Major O'Brien, Captain Khork, Chief Warrant Officer Marzan, Sergeant First Class Amor, Sergeant First Class Tietjens, and Sergeant Coady: A grateful nation mourns with you. Your loved ones will never be forgotten.
