A British Columbia Supreme Court justice has convicted Inderdeep Singh Gosal of manslaughter instead of second-degree murder for the 2023 stabbing of Paul Schmidt, 37, outside a Vancouver Starbucks, after the defense argued the killing was an “overreaction due to mental illness” rather than a planned intent to kill.
