The Lindsay Clancy case is doing more than dividing people over criminal responsibility and mental illness. It’s exposing some very different beliefs about accountability, judgment, and personal responsibility, and for some couples, those differences are becoming relationship dealbreakers.
After one man reportedly called off his wedding just two weeks before the ceremony following a conversation about Lindsay Clancy, women online erupted over the idea that a man would end a relationship because of an “opinion.”
But was it really just an opinion?
In this video, I explain why some men are looking at these conversations very differently. When you’re considering marriage, children, finances, and building an entire life with someone, how that person views accountability matters. A lot.
Men are constantly told to choose better, recognize red flags, and pay attention to the character of the women they date.
Well, this is what paying attention looks like.
Because dating isn’t simply about finding someone you enjoy being with. It’s also an evaluation process, and sometimes one conversation reveals a fundamental difference in values that you’d be foolish to ignore.
This isn’t about demanding that someone agree with you about everything.
It’s about recognizing when a disagreement reveals something much bigger.
Accountability matters. Judgment matters. Shared values matter.
And discovering that before the wedding is a hell of a lot cheaper than discovering it afterward.
