Lindsay Clancy, defense attorney Kevin Reddington, and prosecutors have returned to Plymouth Superior Court in Plymouth, Massachusetts. Reporters inside say the courtroom is full and everyone is waiting for Judge John Sullivan. A verdict has not been announced, and neither has a mistrial.
The jury is now in its seventh day of deliberations following a major dispute involving one juror. The foreperson previously reported that a single juror was allegedly refusing to follow the court’s instructions concerning reasonable doubt. Reddington asked Judge Sullivan to remove that juror, but the judge declined and sent the same 12 jurors back to deliberate.
The panel has been widely described as divided 11-1, but the court has not confirmed which direction the votes are leaning. Online claims that the jury is definitively 11-1 for conviction or acquittal remain unconfirmed.
Now all eyes are on the courtroom. Will the jury return a unanimous decision, send another note, or tell the judge that it remains hopelessly deadlocked?
