After the jury sent another note, Judge John Sullivan questioned all 12 jurors individually under oath. Defense attorney Kevin Reddington later revealed that the foreperson reported one juror who allegedly “refuses to listen to the law” concerning reasonable doubt. Courtroom reporters describe the split as 11-1, but the direction of the vote has not been confirmed. We do not know whether the 11 jurors favor conviction or acquittal. Reddington asked the judge to remove the disputed juror and replace that person with an alternate. Judge Sullivan denied the request, repeated the reasonable-doubt instruction, and sent the same jury back to continue deliberating. We will separate what happened inside court from the rumors spreading online. We are also covering the deadly mass shooting at Shoreline Plaza, formerly Loring Towers, near Loring Park in downtown Minneapolis.
