September 2nd, 2026 DANBURY, Connecticut - An estimated 400 to 500 people marched from Library Plaza on Main Street Wednesday evening in a citywide strike called "A Day Without Immigrants," organized by Danbury Unites for Immigrants after a week of Immigration and Customs Enforcement arrests in the city.
U.S. Sen. Richard Blumenthal, accompanied by his wife, and Gov. Ned Lamont joined the march, according to on-scene footage.
Organizers called on residents not to work, not to send children to school, to close all businesses and to buy nothing for the day, according to the group's flyer.
