It’s been a difficult year for actorVijay, who is about to leave films behind and start his political career. The Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) founder and president spoke to fans and party members at a Women's Day Event, where he referred to the delay of his last film,Jana Nagayan, and the ongoing divorce case filed by his wife, Sangeetha Sornalingam. In his first public statement, the actor-turned-politician urged fans not to get hurt. Sangeetha has filed a fresh petition against Vijay and moved the court seeking interim relief, seeking the right to stay in their home during the legal proceedings.
At the political event, Vijay addressed the many ongoing controversies in his life. The actor asked his supporters not to get hurt amid his personal issues and said that he would take care of it. He shared, “Let's concentrate only on people issues. Those issues are not worth it at all, so don't hurt yourself."
TheLeoactor was speaking about a new petition that was filed by his wife, Sangeetha, in their divorce case. Earlier, she filed for divorce after 26 years, accusing Vijay of an extramarital affair. Sangeetha’s new petition came after Vijay attended the wedding reception of Kalpathi Suresh’s son withactress Trisha Krishnan. The former co-stars allegedly came and left in the same car. The actor’s last film,Jana Nayagan, is also stuck in limbo after the Tamil film has been in an ongoing row with the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC).
Sangeetha has soughtan interim court orderto stay in their matrimonial home in her petition. She is a UK citizen who does not have her own house in India. She has asked alternatively to be provided with other accommodation and asked for the “payment of fair and reasonable permanent alimony.”
Vijay and Sangeetha, who were married in August 1999, have two children: a son named Jason Sanjay and a daughter named Divya Shasha. The star wife has cited adultery and cruelty as grounds for divorce under provisions of the Special Marriage Act, 1954, stating that the actor’s extramarital affair caused her severe mental distress. Sangeetha also shared in her petition that Vijay had warned her that she would not be allowed to stay in their home if she chose to go to court to legally separate.
