A dense fog advisory is in effect across Long Island through 10 a.m. Saturday, with visibility expected to drop to a quarter-mile or less, according to the National Weather Service in Upton.

The weather service also noted fog could redevelop near the coast late this afternoon into tonight as dew points rise over colder ocean waters, though increasing winds may limit how dense it becomes.
