Iranian semiofficial media said Tuesday the country has begun firing missiles and drones in response to U.S. strikes, as hostilities flare again after a month without military action. Hours earlier, the U.S. military said it was striking new targets in Iran over recent attempted attacks against commercial shipping in the Strait of Hormuz. The renewed fighting, which the U.S. military has tried to cast as limited, comes after President Donald Trump appeared to pivot last month toward punishing Iran economically with sanctions.
