We’re covering several major developing stories today, starting in Times Square, New York City, where an apparently random double stabbing left Erin Piacenti dead and a 68-year-old man wounded near West 41st Street, West 42nd Street and Seventh Avenue.
Police identified the alleged attacker as Pamela Cisneros, 49, of Queens. NYPD Commissioner Jessica Tisch described the attacks as unprovoked. Police say Cisneros stabbed the first victim after he exited the subway, then continued toward Times Square and stabbed Piacenti. Officers later confronted Cisneros near the Times Square police substation, where police say she charged officers while holding two knives. Officers opened fire, and Cisneros was later pronounced dead.
We’re also following the Lindsay Clancy murder trial in Plymouth County, Massachusetts. Jurors told Judge William Sullivan that they had been unable to reach a unanimous verdict after roughly 17 to 18 hours of deliberations. The judge ordered the jury to continue deliberating.
