A woman who attacked people with a knife in Times Square was shot by police, according to law enforcement. The woman, who police described as emotionally disturbed, had a knife in the tourist-heavy area Monday afternoon and used it to stab multiple people in the area of West 43rd Street and Seventh Avenue, police said. Responding officers fired at the woman, police said. She was struck and taken to the hospital in critical condition. Police sources told NBC New York at least two victims had been stabbed, though their conditions were not immediately clear. The attacks did not appear to be terror-related, according to sources. The NYPD advised avoiding the area around West 43rd Street and Seventh Avenue, and to expect delays in the surrounding area. An investigation is ongoing.
