BREAKING NEWS from Las Vegas as a verdict has been reached in the highly watched murder trial of Duane “Keffe D” Davis, the only person ever charged in connection with the 1996 killing of legendary rapper Tupac Shakur.
Jurors reached their decision after approximately 90 minutes of deliberations following closing arguments in Clark County District Court. Davis was charged with murder with the use of a deadly weapon in connection with the September 1996 drive-by shooting that fatally wounded Tupac near the Las Vegas Strip.
Prosecutors argued that Keffe D helped orchestrate the retaliation against Tupac following a confrontation involving Davis’ nephew, Orlando “Baby Lane” Anderson, at the MGM Grand earlier that night. The prosecution relied heavily on Davis’ past interviews, statements, memoir and recordings in which he discussed his alleged role surrounding the shooting.
The defense argued that Davis exaggerated or fabricated those stories for money and attention, while pointing to what attorneys described as a lack of physical evidence directly placing him at the murder scene.
Nearly 30 years after Tupac Shakur was shot in Las Vegas, the case has reached one of its most significant moments.
