We have more than enough warnings — not just in human history but American history and from only a few decades ago — that what is happening right now in our streets will not end well.
This reeks of not only mission creep but the kind of problem-reaction-solution set up where the solution being offered is so much worse than the problem ever was.
And the problem was already pretty bad.
