The explosion followed Israel’s announcement that it launched “broad-scale" strikes on targets in Tehran. Meanwhile, Iranian state media reported an explosion in the western part of the city.

“The IDF (Israel Defense Forces) has begun a broad-scale wave of strikes" on government targets in the Iranian capital, according to an Israeli military statement.

Eye-witnesses said the explosions were intense, with large plumes of smoke emerging from the site. Many others reported explosions round the Iranian city of Kermanshah, which is home to several missile bases, according to a report by news agency AP.

The development came after the Israeli forces earlier reported another round of Iranian missiles directed towards Israel.

Following this, a series of explosions were heard in Tel Aviv. According to officials, there were no reports of casualties.
