BREAKING NEWS: An LAPD officer was reportedly run over by a fleeing SUV during an assault with a deadly weapon call in Los Angeles.

A massive search is underway in the Sylmar area of the San Fernando Valley after an LAPD officer was struck by a vehicle near Foothill Boulevard and Hubbard Street. The incident reportedly began while Foothill Division officers were responding to an assault with a deadly weapon call.
According to preliminary scanner traffic, the officer was struck by the SUV at a high rate of speed before the driver fled the scene. A rescue ambulance was requested, and the injured officer was transported to a local hospital. The officer’s name and official medical condition have not been released.
Police are reportedly searching for a gold or blue-gold 2011 Chevrolet Tahoe. Some early radio traffic also described the vehicle as possibly being a GMC Yukon. An LAPD airship is searching from above as officers establish a perimeter around Foothill Boulevard, Hubbard Street, nearby businesses, residential communities and the Interstate 210 corridor.

LAPD has not officially confirmed whether the officer was deliberately targeted, identified the driver or announced what led to the original assault call.
