The incident reportedly began while Foothill Division officers were responding to an assault with a deadly weapon call. According to preliminary scanner traffic, the officer was struck by the SUV at a high rate of speed before the driver fled the scene. A rescue ambulance was requested, and the injured officer was transported to a local hospital. The officer’s name and official medical condition have not been released. Police are reportedly searching for a gold or blue-gold 2011 Chevrolet Tahoe. Some early radio traffic also described the vehicle as possibly being a GMC Yukon.
