Meghan Markle has faced setbacks in both her personal life and career, but she has remained steadfast through it all. After stepping back from royal duties, the Duchess of Sussex focused on building her own brand and finally had the freedom to return to entertainment on her own terms.
As a working royal,Prince Harry's wife had made the difficult decision to leave acting behind. When she met her husband, Markle was starring in the hit legal drama 'Suits', but her role within the Royal Family meant devoting her time to the Crown rather than her career. Now she is navigating her next chapter without Netflix.
When Markle had the chance to return to what she loved, she took it. The Duchess partnered with Netflix, where her lifestyle show, 'With Love, Meghan', aired for two seasons before it was not renewed for a third.Netflix has since officially ended its partnership with Marklealtogether.
Reportsindicate it no longer made sense for Netflix to continue the arrangement, as the programme failed to perform in the ratings. With Love, Meghan did not come close to replicating the success of the couple's 2023 documentary, 'Harry & Meghan', the project that launched their time on the platform. Years before its release, Markle and Prince Harry had negotiated a $100 million (approximately £73.9 million) deal with Netflix, though their subsequent projects never reached the same heights.
Despite the split, both sides appear to have parted on good terms. A Netflix spokesperson confirmed that Markle will continue producing content independently. A spokesperson for herAs Ever brandwas equally upbeat about what lies ahead.
'We have experienced meaningful and rapid growth, and As Ever is now ready to stand on its own. We have an exciting year ahead and can't wait to share more,' the spokesperson said.
Launched in spring 2025 alongside With Love, Meghan, As Ever sells a range of pantry staples—including jams, baking mixes, teas, and wines—inspired by Markle's earlier lifestyle blog, The Tig. That said, earlier reports suggest the brand has faced challenges in the market. A large quantity of As Ever products were reportedly spotted inside Netflix's Los Angeles office last month, with sources claiming the items had not sold through to customers.
The couple are also developing an adaptation of Jasmine Guillory's The Wedding Date under Archewell Productions. Published in 2018 as the first in Guillory's bestselling series, the novel follows a political strategist who agrees to pose as a stranger's date at a wedding after a chance lift encounter, only to find that love has other plans. Girls Trip screenwriter Tracy Oliver is set to adapt it for the screen.
Markle has also kept a steady presence on Instagram, sharing updates on her personal and professional life. Most recently, she posted an adorablephotoof Prince Harry with their daughter, Lilibet, on Valentine's Day.
