SAN FRANCISCO (KGO) --An investigation is underway after an attack on San Francisco Mayor Daniel Lurie's security team Thursday evening left one bodyguard with head injuries.
The mayor was not hurt in the attack and two suspects were arrested, one of whom had a previous run-in with the law.
It happened in the Tenderloin neighborhood just before 6 p.m. near Cedar and Polk Streets.
Photos coming from local publication Mission Local show the moments shortly after the confrontation where one of the officers was being treated on scene.
Two men were arrested in connection with the altercation, and later photos show the arrest of at least one of them.Lurie's office and the San Francisco Police Department confirmed the incident, saying that two officers assigned to the mayor's detail were in a physical confrontation with two unknown males.
The officers, who had non-life-threatening injuries, requested backup. No other people were injured.

Mission Local reporter Eleni Balakrishnan, who covers the Tenderloin, was there just moments after it happened.
"Mayor Lurie was there, he was looking on, he was looking pretty concerned, and he told me that some men had tried to fight police officers," Balakrishnan told ABC7 Eyewitness News. "It turned out that those were part of his security detail. He had a driver and another officer with him who had, I guess, intervened when they had asked some men to move out of the way, and the mayor was out of the car. He had stepped out to talk to these people, and I guess this officer had gotten involved, and things got physical. I'm not really sure how it began, but the officer told me that this man came at him, and then they kind of got into a scuffle.
Balakrishnan also obtained video that shows the man and the bodyguard wrestling in the middle of the street.
